Brownsheep: A Memoir
by Jazzie de Leon
My memoir, Brownsheep, is a coming of age story that chronicles my experiences growing up in Los Angeles as a Filipino American, often overshadowed and underestimated.
My story sheds light on navigating life with an immigrant single mother, whose narcissistic tendencies added an extra layer of challenge to our already complicated existence. This journey exposed me to the realities of abuse and ultimately into foster care.

It’s a story of self-discovery, hope, resilience, and courage that I’m proud to share.
The work was honored as a semi-finalist for Non-Fiction/Memoir for the BookLife and Publisher's Weekly award. Brownsheep is currently on submission with Ladderbird Literary Agency.

"Brownsheep is a raw, immaculately written, emotional tale of Filipino immigration, generational trauma, and othering." --Booklife Critic's Report

Cultural Detox: On Identity, Rules, and Being
As part of the Authentic Voices Anthology Volume 2 (2024)
My forthcoming literary project is a contribution to the Authentic Voices Anthology Vol. 2, an excerpt from my second book Cultural Detox: On Identity, Rules, and Being.
This work blends the realms of meditations and self-help. It offers meditative insights on liberating oneself from societal constraints and cultural conditioning. I focus on attaining inner peace and liberation through embracing one's personal authenticity.
Cultural Detox will especially resonate with those who bear the unique mantle of being first-generation American or adult children of immigrants. Get ready to embrace your truest self and embark on a journey towards your own boundless freedom.
